Now that we’ve officially entered the British summer months, if you’re feeling the heat, you can bet your dog is too!
I’ve put together some of our favourite ways to help keep your fluffer cool this summer. From boosting hydration to fun (frozen but not really sweet) treats, because let’s be honest, who doesn’t love a frozen sweet treat?
Bone Broth
First up bone broth. Easily my favourite way to sneak some extra hydration into your fluffer. We stock two types liquid and powdered, and honestly, I love them both for different reasons.

Liquid
Super convenient. Just shake and pour. It's ready to go straight from the packet. Once opened, it does need to be stored in the fridge and used within five days. It's not the easiest to take out and about unless you’ve got a spill-proof container.

We’ve got two brands Nova and Nutriment. I love the flavours from Nova, but Nutriment wins for me, mainly because of the packaging. That little screw-top lid makes my life way easier. It's the little things, right?
Powdered
This one’s more cost-effective. Just mix the powder with water to make as much or as little as you need. Bonus: it lasts way longer. You can also use it dry, sprinkled over meals. It won’t add hydration that way, but it’ll definitely level up your dog’s dinner in the flavour department.
Whether you chose the ready made liquid or powdered and add water there is multiple ways to use it. Pour it over meals, add a splash to water bowls, offer a little as a drink or freeze in molds for cooling treats.

Goats Milk Powder
The Fettle Goat’s Milk Powder is a single-ingredient wonder with some serious health benefits. Like the bone broth, you can sprinkle it on meals or mix it with water for a hydration boost. It’s packed with natural probiotics, essential vitamins and enzymes. It helps support your dog’s immune system, improves nutrient absorption and can even ease digestive issues.
Use it just like bone broth over meals, in water, or frozen into little cubes.

Ice Cube Molds
There’s nothing better than an ice lolly on a hot day, so of course I have to make some for Otti too.
You can use ice cube molds like the ones on our website or even actual ice lolly molds. I definitely recommend sticking with silicone ones though, getting frozen treats out of hard plastic molds is a nightmare. When it comes to what to freeze, I love using things like above bone broth, goat’s milk or even peanut butter, kefir, or baby food from the supermarket.
You can mix and match depending on what you have to hand. And to make them even more exciting, try adding extras like chopped fruit or little treats inside.

Fruit And Veg
Cheap, cheerful, and super hydrating. Fruit and veg are a total summer win.
My top picks are cucumber and watermelon. Cucumber is made up of around 96% water, making it a super refreshing snack or a great addition to enrichment feeders. I’ll often slice it up and pop it into feeders or just give it as is. Watermelon isn’t far behind, with about 92% water content. I mean, the clue’s in the name, right? I just remove the rind and seeds, then either slice it up to serve as a snack, pop pieces on to enrichment feeders, or blend it and freeze it into a cool treat. My favourite way though? Freezing a slice just as it is, like a mini doggy ice lolly. Because it’s naturally sweet, Otti absolutely loves it.

The Woof Pupsicle
This one’s a new addition to the website and something we’ve recently started using ourselves, and honestly, I’m obsessed. It’s such a fun and simple way to give your pup a frozen treat.
You’ve got two options for filling it. You can go for the ready-made packet treats or use the yellow freezable mold. Personally, during these hot months, the mold has been my go-to. It comes with four sections, so you can prep four pupsicles at once and even mix up the flavours if you want to keep things interesting. When they’re frozen and ready, I just pop one out, which is super easy thanks to the mold being silicone, unscrew the Woof Pupsicle, pop the frozen filling inside, screw it back together, and that’s it. The whole thing takes about 30 seconds. Then your dog gets to enjoy the fun part, using their tongue to lick away at the frozen goodie inside. It’s a perfect little cool-down treat.

Enrichment Feeders
Whether it’s a lick mat, a slow feeder, or a fillable feeder, your dog is definitely going to appreciate a cool treat.
I’m going to try to keep this one short and sweet because honestly, I could go on forever about enrichment. What I like to do is batch-make all my enrichment treats for the week and freeze them. This way, everything is prepped and ready to go. Then on a sunny day, I just pull one out of the freezer and pop it in the garden (in the shade) for Otti to enjoy.
I freeze enrichment feeders all year round, but it’s especially great in summer to help your fluffer stay cool. You can use any of the items mentioned earlier as toppers, and if you want more ideas, check out some of our other blog posts.
Outside of enrichment, we like to do a few extra bits to help keep Otti cool during the warmer months. The best part? They’re all super simple to do at home. We keep the blinds closed during the hottest parts of the day to stop the sun from turning the house into an oven, and we swap out the water in her bowls a few times a day to make sure it stays fresh and cool.
We’ve given cool mats a go, but if I’m being honest, Otti much prefers to plonk herself right in front of the fan like the absolute queen she is. She’s got her summer setup all figured out, and I’m just here to serve the snacks.
I have popped links below to all mentioned products.
I hope this post helped to give you some ideas!
