Feeling Stuck with Enrichment? You're Not Alone!
I hear it all the time “I don’t know where to start with enrichment!” And honestly, I get it. It can feel super overwhelming at first. That’s exactly why I am starting to share these posts to give you a hand with choosing some products for your fluffer and spark some ideas for tasty toppers to use.
This Time It’s All About The Freezbone Star
For this post, I’m using the Freezbone Star. It only comes in one size but in my opinion, it works really well for a wide range of dog sizes. Its shallow design also makes it perfect for flat-faced breeds (hello, pugs and Frenchies!).
How Difficult Is It?
I'd rate this one as easy on the enrichment scale, which makes it an awesome option for beginners. It's ideal for dogs who aren't super food-motivated. If you jump in with a feeder that’s too tricky, your pup might just get bored, give up and walk away. Starting with something easier builds confidence and gets them used to enrichment before moving on to tougher challenges.
To Freeze or Not to Freeze?
Despite the name Freezbone, you don’t have to freeze it, but I always do! I like to batch-make a bunch at once and pop them in the freezer for the week ahead. Freezing makes it more of a challenge, lasts longer, and is especially great on warmer days. Win-win-win.
Building Your Enrichment Feeder: No Rules Here!
When I’m prepping something like this, I always start with a wet base. This time, I used Nutriment Fish Liquid Bone Broth. It’s perfect for helping everything else stick and stay put once frozen. After that? Honestly, I just wing it! There are no rules. I just use whatever I have on hand or something new I’ve been meaning to try!
Here’s What I Used (with links so you can check them out!):
A few extras I used that you can pick up from your local super market.
Canned Pumpkin Puree
Baby Food
Fresh Kiwi
Fresh Apple
Fresh Cucumber
The Freeze Star is easy to clean and dishwasher safe.
Hope this post gave you a bit of inspo! If you ever have any questions, feel free to pop me a message. I love helping people get started on their enrichment journey.
